i turn the tv off, and then the daily show gets wise&stuff
stewart:(to al gore) you're fighting not just the industrial revolution age, you're fighting all the years of human progress. the one thing that brought humankind out of the darkness was burning things - we rub two sticks together and suddenly we could eat cooked food and make more things - it's a much more fundamental shift than i think environmentalists realize. it's not just about sorting plastic & paper; the life that humans have carved out was created through a certain thing of burning things we found. and now you're saying let's do it a different way, but no one has given us that thing.Posted on November 6, 2009 with 1 note

will: eat shit and die, ricky!
ricky: eat shit and live, will.1 pumpkin(-carving, officially, but i missed the carving part) kickback at tiffany’s. finally got a refill on asian girl-squad squealing with the elusive so-l and paperorchids, and saw tej up close!
2 sleepaway camp with rachel & co. movie was hilariously bad until the end, which was terrifying and very, very effective. scenes from shark attack three: megalodon. ordered italian express. first two eps of the oc.
3 walked the wrong way down ophir. ;;; i’m blaming it on darkness and sleep deprivation.

i can’t believe that you’re knocking, knocking on my door
it’s been so long, been so long

vetiver | been so longmet with my research adviser today, bringing only the opaquest of ideas about the topic i wanted to read on. i told him i want to study current community development in seoul, and how the population’s economic makeup changed because of la’s koreans returning to seoul as americanized, successful businesspeople. somehow the discussion slid from rok’s land allocation back toward la, toward soshy, anthro-ish topics. like the korean american megachurch phenomenon and its impact on local business/the education and growth of ktown youth; how to explain the readiness with which ktown embraces planning; hip hop culture & breakdancing, why the kids hold on to it still and the adults abhor it; the singular “transnationality” of la’s korean population, what its influential relationship with korea says about nations and their people in the diaspora.
labyrinth of returns! try as i might to get away from la, i think i’ll be drawn back to who i am and what i’ve seen here until my face is lined. hopefully, belief or understanding will find me in time, and then i’ll be ready for some other place.
